How to turn a kitchen furniture into a dressing table

Good morning! How are you doing during quarantine? Today I show you another DIY that I did two and a half years ago and that I hadn't shown you... I had an old kitchen furniture that I was going to throw away and as I was making a dressing room at home, I thought I could give it a twist and try to reuse it as a dressing table. Do you want to know what I did ? Just keep reading... ;)

First of all, here it is what you need: spray paint, a face mask (at this time, maybe you can use a scarf), a pair of gloves (or al least one) and a newspaper.

I chose white spray paint and I found these at a bazaar. I decided to use spray paint because the furniture wasn't real wood but a particle board, so an ordinary paint may not be fixed to it. Although in the picture you can only see two spray paint bottles I actually needed five, as I had to give several layers of paint to get to cover the whole furniture. So the first step is to apply the white spray paint all over the furniture. You should do this at an open space such as a terrace in case you have it. In my case, as I don't have a terrace, I did it in the room where the dressing room would be assembled, with the windows opened and the door closed but the smell of the paint is quite intense so I had to leave the windows opened a few hours after applying the paint so that the smell could completely dissapear.

Once the whole furniture was covered with the white spray paint, I used silver paint for the drawer handles. In order to add the silver paint only to the handles and avoid painting around them, I used the newspaper to protect the area around. I made a little whole on the newspaper by blending it and making a small cut, as you can see in the following pictures and then I passed the handle through the whole in the newspaper. Sorry I forgot to take pictures of this before painting the handles, that's why you can see they're already painted in the pictures! hehe :P.

Once the area around the handles is protected, you can apply the silver only to the handles.

In case you need to retouch the white paint around the handles, you can do a little cap with the newspaper to put on the drawer handles, as you can see in the following image. In this case I also used a little bit of sticky tape to fasten it.

Now you can add more white paint without runing the handles we already painted.

And... voilá! This is the final result :)

Y... ¡voilá! Éste es el resultado final :)

I use it as a dressing table and I keep my earrings in the drawers: the silver earrings in one of the drawers and the golden earrings in the other one. What do you think? Do you like the final result? Let me know if you try this DIY at home ;) Kss and encouragement for you all on these days!
